Thérèse Rein is better known for her business acumen than her cooking skills, but she was able to put her culinary abilities to good use at OzHarvest Brisbane's recent 'Cooking for a Cause' event.

Ms Rein, the national Patron of OzHarvest, invited colleagues from her business Ingeus to the Cooking for a Cause team building event, led by a professional chef. In just one afternoon the team cooked up hundreds of meals for the homeless which were then collected by the OzHarvest van and delivered to local charities.

'Cooking for a Cause is a unique, novel and powerful way to bring corporate teams together for a fun cooking workshop, whilst giving back to the community,' said Ms Rein. 'My team learned new things, were able to help fill a genuine need and many laughs were had along the way too!'

'OzHarvest does something amazing. It takes an unwanted resource – quality, excess food – and uses it in the most meaningful way: by feeding homeless Australians. I am thrilled OzHarvest is now here in Brisbane, helping so many in need to receive decent, healthy food.'

OzHarvest is a not-for-profit organization that rescues quality excess food to feed communities at risk and has delivered over 10 million meals nationally. OzHarvest commenced operations in Brisbane six months ago and is growing fast, to date delivering over 50,000 meals to over 20 local charities. Cooking for a Cause was created as an impactful and cost-effective way to enhance staff engagement and team building, or as part of an organisation's corporate social responsibility program.
